Special Traffic Alert: Sunday, November 18th

  • Final paving of the southbound lanes of Broadway (Route 99) will begin on Sunday, November 18th.
  • This will require the closure of Route 99 southbound at various times between Sweetser Circle and Dexter Street.
  • A detour will be set up using 2nd Street, Market Street and Beacham Street.
  • Please seek alternate routes, if possible. 

 

Week of November 12, 2018

All work locations and durations are subject to weather

The Alford Street Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for an extended period of time. This work—which is not related to Encore Boston Harbor—is expected to have a significant impact on traffic. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes or travel during off-peak hours.

Sullivan Square—no road work will take place on Monday, November 12th, due to the holiday

  • Road work will continue at the Sullivan Square rotary on Cambridge Street and Spice Street 
  • Work will include curb, sidewalk and traffic signal installation.
  • The work will require sequenced lane shifts along with some closing of lanes during off-peak hours.
  • Work will continue at the Sullivan Square MBTA Station 
  • Work will include retaining wall installation, paving and sidewalk and curb installation.
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic.

Wellington MBTA Station—no road work will take place on Monday, November 12th, due to the holiday

  • Work will continue at the Wellington MBTA Station 
  • Work will include paving, pavement marking and fence installation.
  • The work will be done with crews working in isolated areas within the property.
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic outside of the station property.

Route 16—no road work will take place on Monday, November 12th, due to the holiday  

  • Work will continue at Wellington Circle 
  • Work will include curbing, sidewalk, and traffic signal installation.
  • The work will be done with small crews working in isolated areas.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.
  • Work will continue at Santilli Circle 
  • Work will include pavement marking, landscaping, sign installation and traffic signal installation.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.
  • Work will continue at Sweetser Circle 
  • Work will include curb, sidewalk, traffic signal installation and paving preparation.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.
  • Work will continue on Washington Avenue 
  • Work will include paving, sidewalk and traffic signal installation.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.
  • Work will continue on Webster Avenue 
  • Work will include electrical work and traffic signal installation.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.

Alford Street/Broadway (Route 99) 

  • Roadwork will continue along Broadway and Alford Street from Monday through Sunday
  • Pavement milling of Broadway will take place Sunday night and Monday night. Work will continue Tuesday night, if needed.
  • Work will require northbound and southbound lane closures throughout the day and night.
  • Roadwork will continue on Robin Street 
  • Work will require full-depth pavement reconstruction.
  • Robin Street will be closed from Thorndike Street to Beacham Street starting Wednesday, November 7. This section of road will be for local access only.

EVERSOURCE TRAFFIC UPDATE— Week of November 12th

  • CHELSEA
    • There will be a single-lane closure on Williams Street for utility excavation between Spruce and Walnut Streets, Monday through Friday, from approximately 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Additionally, there will be a single-lane closure for excavation at the intersection of Spruce and Williams Street from approximately 6 p.m. to 4 a.m
    • Expect alternating traffic patterns during this period.
  • EVERETT
    • Eversource will be working day and night shifts from Robin and Beacham Streets from Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.
    • This work will require alternating traffic patterns along Robin and Beacham Streets.
  • BOSTON
    • No work planned
