Week of March 25, 2019

All work locations and durations are subject to weather.
 
The Alford Street Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for an extended period of time. This work—which is not related to Encore Boston Harbor—is expected to have a significant impact on traffic. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes or travel during off-peak hours.

Sullivan Square

  • Roadwork will continue at the Sullivan Square rotary on Cambridge Street, Maffa Way, Main Street, Alford Street, and Rutherford Avenue.
  • This work will include resetting of curb, sidewalk demolition, and traffic signal and drainage installation.
  • The work will require sequenced lane shifts as well as off-peak lane closures.
  • Work will continue at the Sullivan Square MBTA station lower busways and parking lot.
  • This work will include electrical installation.
  • This will be done by crews working in isolated areas outside of the roadway.
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic.

Route 16

  • Work will continue at Sweetser Circle.
  • This work will include sidewalk installation.
  • The proposed work zones will require the closure of small lengths of outside travel lanes and medians for short durations.
  • Work will continue at Webster Ave.
  • This work will include conduit excavation and installation.
  • The proposed work zones will require the closure of small lengths of outside travel lanes, shoulder lane and medians for short durations.
  • Work will resume at Wellington Circle.
  • This work will include water line installation.
  • The proposed work zones will require sequenced lane shifts as well as off-peak lane closures.

Alford Street/Broadway (Route 99)

  • Roadwork will resume along Broadway.
  • This work will include sign installation and traffic signal work.
  • The work will require short term lane closures and some lane shifting may be required.
  • On Broadway, two travel lanes southbound will be maintained during morning peak hours and two travel lanes northbound will be maintained during afternoon peak hours.
  • Roadwork will resume along Dexter Street and Robin Street.
  • This work will include sign installation, sidewalk, and curb installation, and full depth pavement construction on Robin Street.
  • The work will require short term lane closures and some lane shifting may be required.
  • Full depth pavement reconstruction on Robin Street will require a road closure from Rover Street to Beacham Street starting Wednesday, March 27th through Monday, April 8th.

 
EVERSOURCE TRAFFIC UPDATE – Information Provided by Eversource

  • CHELSEA
    • Crews will be installing conduit, backfilling, and paving on Beacham Street between 5:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. Monday night through Thursday night. Police details and detours are required.
    • Crews will additionally be on Williams Street trenching between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
    • Eversource will be working on Willow Street trenching and backfilling during the hours of 7:00am-3:30pm Monday through Friday.
  • EVERETT
    • Eversource will be doing trench work during day shifts on Beacham Street Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
    • Additionally, night work will take place Monday night through Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  • BOSTON
    • There will be no work in the City of Boston for the week of March 25, 2019.

  • The work will require sequenced lane shifts as well as off-peak lane closures.
  • Work will continue at the Sullivan Square MBTA station lower busways and parking lot.
  • This work will include electrical installation.
  • This will be done by crews working in isolated areas outside of the roadway.
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic.

Route 16

  • Roadwork will resume at Bell Circle.
  • This work will include wheelchair ramp and sidewalk installation.
  • This will be done by small crews working in isolated areas. Lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.

Alford Street/Broadway (Route 99)

  • No work is planned on Alford Street/Broadway.

    • Crews will be trenching, installing conduit, backfilling, and paving on Beacham Street between 5:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. Monday night through Thursday night.
    • Crews are also on Beacham Street Saturday, March 23rd from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
