All work locations and durations are subject to weather.
 
The Alford Street Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for an extended period of time. This work—which is not related to Encore Boston Harbor—is expected to have a significant impact on traffic. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes or travel during off-peak hours.

Sullivan Square

  • Roadwork will continue at the Sullivan Square rotary on Cambridge Street, Maffa Way, Main Street and Rutherford Avenue.
  • This work will include interconnect duct bank and traffic signal and drainage installation.
  • The work will require sequenced lane shifts as well as off-peak lane closures.
  • Work will continue at the Sullivan Square MBTA station upper busway and parking lot.
  • This work will include electrical installation.
  • This will be done by crews working in isolated areas outside of the roadway.
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic.

Route 16

  • Work will continue at Bell Circle. 
  • This work will include traffic signal installation.
  • The proposed work zones will require the closure of small lengths of outside travel lanes for short durations.

Alford Street/Broadway (Route 99)

  • No work is planned on Alford Street/Broadway.

 

EVERSOURCE TRAFFIC UPDATE – Information Provided by Eversource

  • CHELSEA
    • There will be a single lane closure on Williams Street for utility restoration between Spruce and Walnut Street on Monday, January 14, through Friday January 18, 2019 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Additionally, there will be a single lane closure at the intersection of Spruce and Williams Street from approximately 7:00am-3:30pm for road repairs and plate removal.
    • Expect alternating traffic patterns during this period.
  • EVERETT
    • Eversource will be working day shifts on Beacham Street Monday, January 14, through Friday, January 18, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
  • BOSTON
    • There will be no work in the City of Boston for the week of January 14, 2019.

Week of January 7, 2019

  • The work will require sequenced lane shifts as well as off-peak lane closures.
  • Work will continue at the Sullivan Square MBTA station upper busway and parking lot.
  • This work will include fence installation.
  • This will be done by crews working in isolated areas outside of the roadway.
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic.

Route 16

  • Work will continue at Wellington Circle. 
  • This work will include sidewalk installation.
  • This will be done with small crews working in small isolated areas. Roadway shoulder closures may be required.

Alford Street/Broadway (Route 99)

  • Roadwork will continue along Broadway/Alford Street (Route 99).
  • The work will require northbound and southbound lane closures.
  • Roadwork will continue along Robin Street and Dexter Street.
  • This work will be done with small crews working in small isolated areas. One lane alternating traffic may be required for short sections.

This work—which is not related to Encore Boston Harbor—is expected to have a significant impact on traffic. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes or travel during off-peak hours.

Note: The switch-over of all traffic (both inbound and outbound) from the current outbound direction deck to the inbound direction deck is currently taking place. The switch-over will be completed by Wednesday, January 2, with all traffic on the inbound direction deck.

  • The work will require northbound and southbound lane closures.
  • Roadwork will continue along Robin Street and Dexter Street.

    • However, there will be no work Tuesday January 1, 2019.
  • EVERETT
    • Day work will take place on Beacham Street and Robin Street Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
    • However, there will be no work in the city of Everett Tuesday January 1, 2019.
  • BOSTON
    • There will no work in the City of Boston for the week of December 31, 2018.
