The Alford Street Bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for an extended period of time. This work—which is not related to Encore Boston Harbor—is expected to have a significant impact on traffic. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes or travel during off-peak hours. 

Dexter Street 

  • Full-depth road reconstruction of Dexter Street will begin on Monday, December 10th 
  • Work will require the closure of Dexter Street from Alford Street/Broadway (Route 99) to Robin Street
  • This area will be closed to all traffic through Friday, December 14th 

Alford Street/Broadway (Route 99)

  • Roadwork will continue along Broadway/Alford Street from Monday through Sunday
  • Work will require northbound and southbound road closures throughout the day

Sullivan Square

  • Roadwork will continue at the Sullivan Square rotary on Cambridge Street and Rutherford Avenue 
  • Work will include curb, sidewalk and traffic signal installation. 
  • The work will require sequenced lane shifts along with some closing of lanes during off-peak hours. 
  • Work will continue at the Sullivan Square MBTA Station 
  • Work will include retaining wall installation, paving and sidewalk and curb installation. 
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic. 

Wellington MBTA Station 

  • Work will continue at the Wellington MBTA Station 
  • Work will include paving, pavement marking and fence installation.
  • The work will be done with crews working in isolated areas within the station property. 
  • There is no anticipated impact to traffic outside of the station property. 

Route 16 

  • Work will continue at Wellington Circle 
  • Work will include curbing, sidewalk and traffic signal installation. 
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours. 
  • Work will continue at Santilli Circle 
  • Work will include pavement marking, landscaping, sign installation and traffic signal installation.  
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours. 
  • Work will continue at Sweetser Circle 
  • Work will include curb, sidewalk and traffic signal installation.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours. 
  • Work will continue on Washington Avenue 
  • Work will include paving, sidewalk and traffic signal installation. 
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.
  • Work will continue on Webster Avenue 
  • Work will include paving, sidewalk and traffic signal installation.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours. 

EVERSOURCE TRAFFIC UPDATE—Information Provided by Eversource

  • CHELSEA
    • There will a single lane closure on Williams Street for utility excavation between Spruce and Walnut Street on Monday December 10 through Friday December 14, 2018 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Expect alternating traffic patterns during this period. 
  • EVERETT
    • Eversource will be working night shifts on Robin Street, Monday, December 10 through Friday December 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
    • Day work will take place on Beacham Street Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.   
  • BOSTON
    • There will no work in the City of Boston for the week of December 10, 2018.

Week of December 3, 2018

  • Work will continue on Washington Avenue
  • Work will include paving, sidewalk and traffic signal installation.

  • Work will continue on Webster Avenue
  • Work will include electrical work and traffic signal installation.
  • Travel lane closures will occur during off-peak hours.

  • Work will require the closure of Robin Street from Beacham Street to Mystic Street
  • This area will be closed to all except local traffic until Friday, December 7th—access to Rover Street will be provided via Dexter Street
  • Roadwork will continue along Broadway and Alford Street from Monday through Sunday
  • Work will include traffic signal installation and pavement marking
  • Work will require northbound and southbound lane closures throughout the day and night.
